profile photo of Jiayi WangJiayi is a flute player, skilled in both the Western flute and the dizi (Chinese bamboo flute). She is currently a PhD candidate at the Institute of Education at UCL, under the supervision of Professor Graham F. Welch. Her research focuses on exploring the lived experience of performance-related health and wellbeing issues among flautists. Jiayi achieved a BMus music degree at the University of Sheffield and completed an MA degree in music education at the Institute of Education, UCL. She also holds a diploma in flute teaching. As a flautist, she has performed as a soloist, chamber player, and orchestral musician across England, as well as in Shanghai and Hong Kong. During her doctoral journey, she has also been presenting at international conferences. Additionally, Jiayi is a representative for the British Flute Society, representing the Central London and Shanghai areas. Jiayi’s passions lie in performance science and music education.
